Description: Real Estate Appraisers give opinions of value (appraisals) for improved or unimproved real property for purchase, sale, investment, mortgage or loan purposes, and for legal processes. There are three categories of appraisers in Oregon; state licensed appraiser, state certified residential appraiser, and state certified general appraiser.

Fees - application, exam, etc.:  Examination: $125.
Application: $75.
Original License: $600 for two years.
Renewal: $550 for two years.
Federal Registry: $80 for two years (payable in addition to license/renewal fee).
Responsible Agency: Appraiser Certification and Licensure Board
Examination Information: Exam Time: By appointment.
Exam Locs: Beaverton, Salem and Medford.
Exam Pass: Varies, depending on examination.
Exam Repeat: Three times within approved six month period.

State Certified General Appraiser - AQB approved state certified appraiser examination.
State Certified Residential Appraiser - AQB approved state certified residential appraiser examination.
State Licensed Appraiser - AQB approved state licensed appraiser examination.
Continuing Ed Requirements: Fourteen (14) classroom hours of instruction in appraisal courses or seminars for each year preceding the license or certification.

Insurance Requirements: None
Prerequisites: State Certified General Appraiser - Not less than 300 classroom hours of specific courses in real estate appraisal, including 15 hours of Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), and a Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university. At Least 3,000 cumulative hours of acceptable appraisal experience, including at least 1,500 hours of non-residential appraising, and at least 30 months of appraisal experience. Pass AQB approved state certified appraiser examination.
State Certified Residential Appraiser - Not less than 200 classroom hours of specific courses in real estate appraisal, including 15 hours of USPAP, and an Associates Degree or higher from an accredited college or university. At least 2,500 cumulative hours of acceptable appraisal experience, and at least 24 months of appraisal experience. Pass AQB approved state certified residential appraiser examination.
