||This license allows the holder to install, alter,or repair all limited energy systems that do not include protective signaling, including but not limited to:

6. Data telecommunications Installations
7. Instrumentation (industrial only)
"Limited energy electrical activity" means installation, alteration, maintenance, replacement or repair of electrical wiring and electrical products that do not exceed 100 volt-amperes in Class 2 and Class 3 installations, or that do not exceed 300 volt-amperes for landscape low voltage lighting systems that are cord connected to a ground fault circuit interrupter receptacle, under the electrical specialty code and the One and Two Family Dwelling Code.

|Fees - application, exam, etc.:
||$50.00 application fee. The application fee includes the first license cycle after passing the examination. All application fees are non-refundable.
||BCD - Electrical
||Applicants approved to take an examination will be sent a "Letter of Authorization." This letter will explain the procedure for taking the examination and the address and telephone number of the test site selected.
Examination date and time is scheduled by the applicant with the test site office personnel. Upon arrival at the test site, the applicant must provide photo identification and a Letter of Authorization. If the examination is not taken within 60 days of the date of the authorization letter the applicant must submit a re-application form with the appropriate fee to schedule another exam date.
If the applicant fails the exam they must wait 30 days before they may re-apply.
Applicants are requested to bring their own pencils and calculator; scratch paper will be provided. Programmable calculators and laptop computers are not permitted.
Please allow two weeks for Building Codes Division to grade exams. Do not contact the test location for grade results. The Building Codes Division will mail notification of grade results to the applicant. Licenses will be issued after the applicant has passed the examination.
Limited Energy Technician Class B:
Open-book examination: 28 multiple-choice questions (two-hour time limit).

Licensing and Certification Examination Process
|Continuing Ed Requirements:
||During each three-year license cycle, all licensees shall complete a minimum of 8 hours approved code change continuing education, unless otherwise directed by the board. Please see the Electrical Calendar at Training & Continuing Education
||A. Complete an approved apprenticeship program or provide proof of equivalent experience, as outlined in ORS 479.630 (5) and OAR 918-282-0365.
B. Submit proof of related classroom training as outlined in OAR 918-282-0365..
C. Submit a copy of your high school diploma or transcript, a GED certificate, or a military record (DD214) showing proof of high school completion.
D. Pass a written examination.
||Electrical License Application
||Renewal fee is $50. A renewal notice will be mailed to the licensee approximately six weeks prior to the expiration of their license. Current cycle expires 10/1/2014.
