Description: A person holding this license may prepare the site and install manufactured dwellings, cabanas, and skirting. A Manufactured dwelling includes residential trailer, mobile home, and manufactured home.

Examination Information: Process
Once the application is approved, the applicant will be notified and the exam will sent to the choosen proctor location.. The applicant has 60 days to schedule and take the exam. Then proctor will return the exam to the division. Please Give the division two weeks from the date of the exam to return the results.

If the applicant passes a certification number will issued
If the applicant fails, they must wait 30 days before retesting. The re-application fee is $55.00.

Exam specifics

3 hour open book test with 80 questions.
Must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the exam

The following subject areas may be covered:
  • Administrative Rules Chapter 918 divsion 500,515, and 530
  • Oregon Revised Statutes chapter 446
  • Current edition of the Oregon Manufactured Dwelling Installation Specicalty Code
Continuing Ed Requirements: Prior to the end of the license period, licensees will be notified by the Division of continuing education requirements and availability.

The Division shall not renew licenses of licensees who did not complete required continuing education.
Bonding Requirements: Required byCCB if installer is working as a business.
Insurance Requirements: Required byCCB if installer is working as a business.
Prerequisites:
  1. To be licensed as a manufactured dwelling installer, an applicant shall meet the following minimum experience requirements:
    1. 1,600 hours experience as a manufactured dwelling installer in another state or 1,600 hours experience as an Oregon licensed limited installer or limited skirting installer;
    2. 3,200 hours experience servicing or repairing manufactured dwellings;
    3. 3,200 hours experience in the construction of manufactured dwellings;
    4. 3,200 hours experience as a building construction supervisor;
    5. 1,600 hours experience as an active Oregon certified manufactured dwelling installation inspector;
    6. Completion of a one year college program in a construction related field which is recognized by the Board; or
    7. Any combination of experience or education from subsections (a) through (f) of this section totaling 3,200 hours.
  2. In addition to the requirements in section (1) of this rule, applicants shall have:
    1. Complete the Division-approved manufactured dwelling installation study guide; and
    2. Received a passing grade of 75 percent on the Division-approved examination.
  3. Verification of experience shall be submitted on the division approved application form. The Division may contact any person to verify experience of an applicant.
  4. In addition to the completed application form and application fee, an applicant shall provide:
    • Personal photo identification for admission to all required manufactured dwelling examinations and with submittal of the Division's license application.
